“He’s Adorably Talented”: Sanya Lopez Praises David Licauco’s Priest Portrayal

MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso heartthrob David Licauco faces his most challenging role yet as a priest in the upcoming movie “Samahan ng Mga Makasalanan” (Circle of Sinners). During the film’s press conference, the rising star revealed his initial doubts about portraying a religious character convincingly.

“At first I wondered, can I pull this off?” confessed Licauco, known for his diverse roles in Pulang Araw (heavy drama) and Maria Clara at Ibarra (romantic comedy). “This character requires me to be calm and reserved, yet still keep the performance engaging – that’s the real challenge.”

The 28-year-old actor shared how the role became a personal growth journey: “This film taught me that mistakes are acceptable when you learn from them. What matters is not repeating them.”

Co-star Sanya Lopez couldn’t help but gush about Licauco’s performance. “He’s so natural and easy to work with,” she beamed. “There’s this quiet charm about him that makes his priest character unexpectedly endearing.”

Directed by Benedict Mique, Samahan ng Mga Makasalanan promises to showcase Licauco’s acting range beyond his usual romantic lead roles. The film hits theaters on April 19, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the talented actor’s capabilities.
