Triple Giga battles Continent’s best in FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup

THE core of multi titled TNT Triple Giga carries the fight as Gilas Pilipinas battles the Continent’s best in the coming FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Singapore.

Ping Exciminiano, Gryann Mendoza and Chester Saldua – vital cogs of PBA 3×3’s winningest team – take their act internationally and join forces with Meralco’s Joseph Sedurifa, who was a major contributor in the Philippines’ silver-winning campaign in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games men’s 3×3 play in Cambodia.

The Triple Giga’s decorated mentor Mau Belen will coach the shots for Gilas men’s 3×3, which will enter the March 27 to 31 tournament as sixth seeds.

The Filipino half-court specialists are drawn in Pool C with No. 3 Japan plus the winner of the qualifying draw among Australia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tahiti.

Initial goal is to finish Top 2 in the group to advance to the knockout rounds.

Belen’s troops are aiming for an improved performance from the country’s 0-2 showing in the preliminaries and early exit in last year’s edition, also held in Singapore.

This was a big letdown from the stellar campaign previously in 2022 that saw the Almond Vosotros-led Filipinos upsetting powerhouse Mongolia in the quarterfinals, 21-20, and barely missing out on a bronze medal. (OL)
