TNT vs. NLEX Quarterfinals: Anticipation Builds for Game 2 Showdown

The TNT Tropang Giga and NLEX Road Warriors are set for a fierce battle in Game 2 of their PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna this Friday. Both teams are determined to make things challenging for each other, promising an intense matchup.

In Game 1, TNT, the top seed from Group A, faced a tough contest against Group B’s No. 4 seed, NLEX. The Tropang Giga managed to secure a narrow 107-102 victory, thanks to a crucial late-game surge.

TNT coach Chot Reyes acknowledged the difficulty of post-elimination matchups, stating, “Wala naman kasing madaling matchup dito.” He expects NLEX coach Jong Uichico to make adjustments, and TNT is preparing to counter them.

A key strategy for TNT is to make it difficult for NLEX import DeQuan Jones. “The best thing we can do is make it hard for him,” said Reyes. This approach was effective against NLEX’s top local player, Robert Bolick, who struggled in Game 1, scoring just 10 points.

TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson emphasized the importance of balancing aggression without forcing plays. His strong finish in Game 1, supported by teammates Calvin Oftana, RR Pogoy, and Jayson Castro, was crucial for TNT’s win.

NLEX’s Rey Nambatac, who contributed 11 points before leaving the game with a foot injury, remains a question mark for Game 2. Both coaches agree that teamwork will be essential for victory.

Stay tuned for an exciting Game 2 as TNT and NLEX continue their battle for a spot in the semifinals.
