TNT Targets PBA Season 49 Crown After Commissioner's Cup Win

TNT Aims for Another Crown in PBA Season 49 After Commissioner’s Cup Triumph

Following their successful title defense in the Commissioner’s Cup, TNT is set to embark on a new mission in PBA Season 49. They will face Eastern this Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Despite their recent victory, TNT coach Chot Reyes is tempering expectations, acknowledging the challenges ahead. “If the Governors’ Cup was difficult, the Commissioner’s Cup will be doubly, if not ten times, more challenging,” Reyes stated.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and his teammates will kick off their campaign at 7:30 p.m. against an Eastern squad eager to rebound from their first PBA loss to Rain or Shine on Wednesday.

Eastern’s key playmaker, Glenn Yang, missed Wednesday’s game due to a documentary issue, which has since been resolved, allowing his return for their fourth game. “It was a big break for us that Glenn Yang was absent. He’s their primary guard,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao after their 99-81 victory over Eastern.

The guest team from Hong Kong previously defeated Phoenix 102-87 and Converge 117-106 before falling to Guiao’s team.

TNT, fresh off their second consecutive Governors’ Cup title with a 95-85 win over Barangay Ginebra on November 8, is eager to return to action. The team has decided to maintain their partnership with Hollis-Jefferson, despite his shorter stature compared to other imports, due to their strong chemistry.

The team’s focus is on mutual trust and collaboration as they aim for back-to-back championships this season.
