Robert Bolick, June Mar Fajardo, and Epic Game 6 Highlight 30th PBA Press Corps Awards Night on Sept. 24
Robert Bolick, June Mar Fajardo, and the thrilling Game 6 of the Philippine Cup Finals between Meralco Bolts and San Miguel Beermen will be honored at the 30th PBA Press Corps Awards Night, scheduled for September 24 at Novotel Manila, Araneta City.
Bolick, NLEX Road Warriors’ star shooting guard, is recognized as the PBA Season 48 Scoring Champion, averaging an impressive 25.3 points per game. His performance was the highest scoring average by a local player in the last 11 seasons, following Gary David’s 25.8 points per game for Powerade in the 2011-12 season. Bolick’s scoring brilliance came after a high-profile trade from Northport in exchange for Don Trollano.
On the other hand, the 6-foot-10 June Mar Fajardo will be honored with his third Order of Merit, having previously received the award in 2018 and 2019. The San Miguel Beermen center stood out during the critical stages of the Commissioner’s Cup and Philippine Cup playoffs, securing the PBAPC-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week award twice, edging out Northport’s Arvin Tolentino and Phoenix’s Jason Perkins for the prestigious accolade.
Fajardo’s remarkable contribution also shone during the Game of the Season, which saw San Miguel’s dramatic comeback against Meralco in Game 6 of the All-Filipino Cup title series. Fajardo nailed a game-tying three-pointer with just 3.3 seconds remaining, capping off an incredible 17-point comeback by the Beermen.
Despite Fajardo’s heroics, Meralco emerged victorious when Chris Newsome sank a clutch jumper, securing Meralco’s first-ever PBA championship in franchise history.
