PBA Honors Tenorio, Sangalang, and Hodge at 30th Awards Night

MANILA, Philippines — The PBA Press Corps will honor veteran players LA Tenorio, Ian Sangalang, and Cliff Hodge at its 30th Awards Night on September 24 at Novotel Manila Araneta City.

Cliff Hodge will be recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year. Hodge, a key player for Meralco since 2012, averaged 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists last season. His efforts were crucial in Meralco’s first PBA championship win against the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Cup finals.

Hodge joins past award recipients like Marc Pingris, Chris Jackson, Arwind Santos, Freddie Abuda, Chris Ross, and June Mar Fajardo.

LA Tenorio and Ian Sangalang will receive the Bogs Adornado Comeback Player of the Year award. Sangalang, who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, missed the rest of Season 47 with Magnolia. Tenorio, the Barangay Ginebra team captain, battled stage three colon cancer, ending his record of 744 consecutive games played.

Both players have returned to active duty and are in good health, earning them the special award named after PBA legend William ‘Bogs’ Adornado, a three-time league MVP who overcame career-threatening knee injuries.
