BEAU Belga vows Rain or Shine won’t just roll over and die in its PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals series against TNT.
Despite losing the series opener, 116-99, Belga stressed the Elasto Painters aren’t finish yet and will be ready to give the Tropang Giga an even better fight come Game 2 on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters don’t have to look that far, according to the veteran big man, as they also mounted a comeback early in the conference by climbing back from a 0-4 start to make the quarterfinals.
“We still have a chance. We’ve been in this situation (before). We were 0-4 in the eliminations and were able to carve it out. Andito kami sa playoffs, although playoffs is a different atmosphere kesa doon sa eliminations,” he said following the Game 1 loss.
Belga also said he had to make up for his lackluster showing Friday night where he was held to just five points on 2-of-10 shooting from the field.
Entering the playoffs, the 37-year-old product of Philippine Christian University is averaging 17.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 5.4 rebounds.
He did credit the Tropang Giga for doing a good job limiting his output, though he said those missed baskets of him are ‘makeable shots.’
“Credit din sa depensa ng TNT. They were successful limiting baskets na para sa akin. Pero most of the shots are makeable. Nothing to worry about,” said Belga.
Their backs against the wall, Belga still likes Rain or Shine’s shot against the fourth seeded Tropang Giga.
“We still have a chance. We’re still alive,” he said. (RG)
