SHORT in his first attempt, Tyler Bey definitely wants to have another crack at a PBA championship.
The Magnolia import saw his stint with the proud franchise come to a heartbreaking end Wednesday night as San Miguel pulled off a stunning comeback to steal Game 6 of the Commissioner’s Cup finals, 104-102, and win its 29th title in the league.
Bey played for close to 46 minutes and finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three blocks in the closeout game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
While the campaign ended on a sad note for the former NBA player, Bey said he’ll definitely answer the call if Magnolia would need his services again.
“For sure, no doubt. I would love to come back,” he stressed.
Like the rest of the Hotshots, Bey said Magnolia’s meltdown in the final six minutes doomed the team.
“We wish we could do everything better. Execute plays, not turn the ball over. I mean that’s pretty much the game,” he added.
Bey was among the first imports to arrive in the country and the five months of his stay has definitely forged a great bond between him and the Hotshots.
“I love the Philippines, I love Magnolia,” said the import. “We didn’t get the result that we wanted, but I just felt like we have a group of guys that I could call family.”
Given another shot of going to war with the Hotshots, Bey said he’s willing to do it again.
“I just hope we can run it back and go from there,” said the 26-year-old import, a second round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020 draft. (RG)
