YENG Guiao praised Aaron Fuller’s crucial role in leading Rain or Shine to the semifinals of the PBA Governors’ Cup. The veteran coach highlighted Fuller’s contributions, noting how he helped the Elasto Painters secure the top seed in their group during the eliminations. Despite an eye injury in Game 2, Fuller led the team past the Magnolia Hotshots in a thrilling best-of-five quarterfinals.
With Fuller anchoring the frontcourt, Rain or Shine overcame a shaky start and delivered a decisive 113-103 victory at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, setting up a semifinal clash with TNT Tropang Giga. Guiao emphasized that none of this would have been possible without Fuller, stating, “Aaron’s value is simple. We will not be here if not for Aaron. He carried us on his broad shoulders.”
Fuller, 34, scored 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out three assists. His crucial basket with 44 seconds left sealed the game at 109-101. Despite facing intense defensive pressure from Magnolia, Fuller maintained his composure and led by example.
Guiao described Fuller as a silent leader who commands respect through his actions. “He’s a silent leader, doesn’t talk much, but his actions speak for themselves. He just works hard,” said Guiao. He reiterated Fuller’s importance to the team, saying, “We will not be here if not for Aaron.”
Rain or Shine has now reached the semifinals for the second consecutive conference.
