Kyline Alcantara Returns as Kontrabida in GMA-7’s ‘Shining Inheritance’ Adaptation
MANILA, Philippines – After taking on several protagonist roles, Kyline Alcantara steps back into the spotlight as the main antagonist in GMA-7’s highly anticipated adaptation of the hit 2009 Korean drama, *Shining Inheritance.
Kyline takes on the role of Joanna, one of Aurea dela Costa’s (played by Coney Reyes) privileged and spoiled grandchildren. Alongside her brother Euan (Michael Sager), Joanna’s entitled attitude leads to conflicts with those around her.
The actress shared her excitement and nerves about returning to a kontrabida role after some time away. “It’s been a while since I last played a kontrabida, so I’m nervous about how our Kapuso audience will react,” Kyline revealed during the show’s grand press conference on August 30 at GMA Studio 6.
Interestingly, despite being cast as the antagonist, Kyline disclosed that she specifically requested to play a kontrabida again. “I asked my team to give me another kontrabida role because I miss portraying complex characters, and Joanna is truly complicated,” she explained.
Kyline described Joanna as a character with good intentions, but her actions often come across as aggressive, particularly when it involves her grandmother. “What’s troubling about Joanna is how feisty and aggressive she becomes, especially towards her grandmother,” Kyline added.
Despite the on-screen drama, Kyline assured fans that she shares a close bond with her co-stars, including Kate Valdez, who plays the lead role of Inna.
*Shining Inheritance* is based on the popular 2009 Korean drama of the same name, also known as *Brilliant Legacy*, which starred Han Hyo-joo and Lee Seung-gi. The story centers around a wealthy grandmother who decides to leave her company to a stranger, Eun-sung (Inna in the Filipino version), after realizing her own grandchildren are unfit to inherit her food conglomerate, causing a rift in the family.
