Yassi Pressman is one risk-taker as an investor.
Needless to say, she has put some money on the relatively new medium of exchange: cryptocurrency or digital currency.
It was no surprise then when Yassi was introduced as the new celebrity ambassador for Filipino crypto brand coins.ph on August 5, 2024, at the Marquis Event Place in BGC.
According to Yassi, she was wary at first about adopting an investment concept with a high risk-return trade-off, such as cryptocurrency, more so about doing it online
But then she was emboldened by the fact that she has known her way around this business of investing for a long time.
She told Philippine Entertainment Portal, “When I was younger, nung high school pa lang, I kind of invest and do business.
“I bought mga clothes po sa Bangkok before, and then I sold them in my high school, as in ganon.
“So sabi ko, ‘Oh, I kind of like, I like to try to learn to make more money.’ And sometimes, that was very difficult to do.”
She then segued to how the option of investing online through cryptocurrency made it even easier for her to reap the rewards of her investments.
“Eto, there is a way for us to invest in your chair na now— PHP5, PHP100, or whatever budget you have, PHP500, and then use that and then you can just kind of bank it there right?
“Kasi there are some traders in the Philippines. Ako, I don’t have that much time but some are truly, truly great at it. Ang galing-galing nila magbasa and everything.
“Me, what I did before when I came in was I just put my money there in 2017-2018, and I kind of just see it grow,” she revealed.
YASSI OVERCOMES A MARKET CRASH
As it happens, the crypto industry is known for its volatility where market crashes do happen.
Yassi has seen it happen, “I saw it drop during the bear market, which was kind of sad—actually, very, very sad.”
But instead of fretting about it, she calmed herself and decided to wait for the market to turn around.
She said, “Obviously, I got really scared and didn’t want to panic so, I just held on, and believed that one day, the market would come back.
“Kapit lang. Stay strong lang tayo. Now, we’re back on our feet, di ba?
“So I’m glad I did not pull out everything.
“And now, you know, I kind of see that ‘Oh, maybe if I put it somewhere else, it wouldn’t have grown so much, right?”
For the record, Yassi clarified that other than Ethereum, she has not bought any other crypto to date.
“For me, the coin that I really just keep talaga is Ethereum. I didn’t touch Bitcoin, I didn’t touch anything else because I was very skeptical.
“It was back when things weren’t regulated yet, right? So, ako parang to play safe, sinimulan ko konti— o eto Ethereum, USD300 [PHP28,496]. Right now, it’s at USD2,300 [PHP131,000].
“Slowly, as I saw it growing, okay let’s try a bit more.”

Yassi continued to testify positvely about the brand giving correct information on cryptocurrency and promoting financial literacy in the process.
She cited the smooth and easy-to-operate interface as one example of how it helps in making the dive intro cryptocurrency an easy one.
“Pakiramdam ko po talaga kailangan dahan-dahan and simple lang talaga muna. We must all just start with the basics and grow from there,” the British-Filipina actress told PEP.ph.
“Definitely, the accessibility to everyone is one of the best things about coins.ph and how easy and simple everything is laid out for you.”
As a an artist, she suggested that crypto could have a positive impact on the entertainment industry.
Yassi said, “I think we have all witnessed how slowly we have been growing with plenty of options for cashless transactions.
“So maybe soon even if for example we go see the movies or a concert, we could buy tickets with crypto? But who knows? The options are limitless.”
Yassi’s advice to those starting to explore crypto: “Do you own homework.”
She explains, “I am not a financial advisor, but I can just speak from my own experience, na kapag nakakita ka ng opportunity of something that’s gonna grow, where the future is taking all of us, educate yourself.
“Baka puwede ka sa mga mauuna, and I think that was my benefit. I’m glad with my decisions.”
